12 Reasons You Should Learn to Play the Piano
June 1, 2010, 4:05 amAll right, folks, here you go: My 12 reasons why you should start learning how to play the piano. Immediately. As in today. This very minute.
Okay, fine, finish this article first, THEN get started. And yes, I know that there are more than just 12 reasons to play the piano. But I happen to like the number 12.
1) Everyone should play at least one instrument. I truly believe that. Every person on Earth should be able to sit at SOME instrument and be capable of making beautiful music.
2) Playing the piano makes you feel (and look) sophisticated. Truly. No matter who you are or how many warts you have, you’ll just exude class the second you begin tickling those ivories.
3) Piano playing keeps your brain active. It’s very hard for your brain to rot when you consistently throw it the musical language to interpret.
4) You won’t run out of things to do when you’re bored. There’s always a new way to play, always a new approach to playing, and always, always, ALWAYS a new song to learn. (See number 8.)
5) Family members can live vicariously through you. I’m semi-serious about that. The reason I began taking piano lessons (back when I was 10) was because of grandparents who didn’t play, and over the years I’ve had numerous relatives enjoy playing through me. (I live to serve.)
6) People will automatically assume you’re a genius. Honestly, I’ve heard this a lot. People uttering “He/she plays the piano” in the same tone reserved for “He/she has an IQ of 174.” You just can’t help but admire someone playing an instrument.
7) Piano playing is good for your hands. Indeed it is. I probably have stronger hands/fingers than most people I know. And have you ever noticed the hands of a pianist? Beautiful, long, tapered fingers. Chances are that if you’ve ever admired someone’s hands, they play the piano.
Pianists never quit learning. There’s absolutely no way to memorize every musical piece on earth. You could learn 10 new songs a day for the rest of your life without scratching the surface of songs out there.
9) Piano playing is FUN. Really. It’s one of the funnest things I do. Think about it, why would so many of us do it if it weren’t a blast?
10) Deep down, everyone wishes they played the piano. Have you ever read other people’s New Year’s Resolutions lists? If you haven’t, then you’re just not nosy like me. No, seriously, if you haven’t, I’ll tell you which wish consistently pops up: “Learn to play the piano.”
11) Piano playing is SATISFYING. It’s truly one of the most satisfying things you can do. (Right after touching your nose with your tongue. Or so I hear.) There’s no feeling like playing a difficult song and playing it flawlessly. Quite an ego-boost.
12) Everyone loves a musician. ‘Nuff said.

For Some People, Daily Horoscopes Help to Build Confidence
November 30, 2009, 11:09 amThe present lifestyle of the people is so hectic and full of stress due to the high rate of competition that people are always worried about their future. These worries have made them search for ways and means that will help them to know about the future on a daily basis so that they can prepare their strategies of action accordingly and gain success in life. This need of the people has increased the importance of the predictions that can be made every day which can be easily found in the newspapers and magazines.
Most of the people nowadays rely on the daily horoscope which helps them to build up their confidence as they are aware about the things that are going to happen throughout the day. But the predictions in the daily horoscope should be taken with a pinch of salt as the predictions can help as a guide but may not match entirely with the personality of each and every person having the same zodiac sign as it is generalized. Many people know that the daily horoscope is generalized so they go through it so that they can interpret it according to their needs.
There is a difference between the daily horoscope and the natal horoscope as the daily horoscope is totally based on the lunar cycle which does not consider the personal details of a person like the time and place of birth. The only thing that is considered in the daily horoscope is the zodiac sign which is divided according to the months in the year. So what ever predictions are made is fully dependent on the movement of the moon on that particular day for which the daily horoscope is prepared.
So daily horoscope can be consulted by any person born under the zodiac sign which is related to the date and month of his birth irrespective of the year in which he is born. According to the astrologers the movement of the sun is more important for preparing the horoscope. But daily horoscopes are useful as knowing about the things that are going to happen throughout the day helps a person to gain control over his emotions which helps him to maintain the balance and handle the situation tactfully so that no problem develops throughout the day.

Why Astrology Is Not Just about Horoscopes
August 18, 2009, 7:39 amAstrology is harmless, it is an entertainment. Whatever its former glories, it seems now a five-and-dime glimpse of the cosmos. Astrology is perhaps the most ancient subject and also in a way the most ignored. It is the most ancient because astrology has been in existence as far back as we have been able to investigate the history of mankind. Instead, they like to provide anecdotal evidence –stories people tell about how accurate they think astrology is. Anecdotal evidence is not acceptable in a real science because it’s too easy to leave out all the negative experiences people have, and people not very good at recalling and accurately reporting experiences. Many people wrongly think that astrology is just weekly horoscopes and love horoscopes.
Astrology is based on birth charts for an individual. The position of the Sun, Moon and planets is plotted on the zodiac at the moment of birth. Moreover, astrology is not a quick study. Traditionalists used to say it takes a student one transit of Saturn , about 30 years, to become proficient. Vedic Astrology is part of a holistic, integrated knowledge system and its effects can be bolstered by interoperating with its “sister” sciences. The Vedic Astrology system is kind in that not only is a person told what might happen, but they are presented a list of potential remedies or corrective actions to offset the quantity and quality of karmas that are returning to them, as seen in the birth chart.
In 2001, 53% of Europeans surveyed thought astrology is “rather scientific” and only a minority (39%) said it is not at all scientific. In the 2005 survey, Europeans were asked whether or not they considered certain subjects to be scientific, using a 5-point scale (with higher values indicating that a subject is more scientific). This is why astrology is so unique, being used since the beginning of historical records, and can also be found in every advanced culture. MB Pet Astrology is a simple and ‘user-friendly’ software that help you to understand your pets better. It is a complete freeware and the best part is, the reading can be administered within five to eight minutes.

The Euro Millions Lottery and Something You Might Not Recognise. How it Functions, Who it Applies to plus How You Can You Encounter that Giant European Lotto
April 5, 2009, 6:13 amThe Euro lotto was in the first place founded by the national lotteries of France, Spain and the United Kingdom and was unveiled on February 2004. The original lottery draw was on February 13-04 in Paris. The Spain, France and the United Kingdom were the only nations partaking in the beginning but lotteries from the Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium also became active on Oct-04.
The Euromillions lottery or the Euro Lottery, as it is commonly renowned, gathers the ticket receipts of the 9 partaking European countries showing a super Euro lottery “jackpot”. With the number of nations joining the Euro on the increase, that will without question will lead to new states participating in the Euro lotto. A growth in the number of people partaking in the European Lottery will result in a continuing increase of the already sizeable European Lottery “jackpots”.
Q. How Would You Play The Euro Lotto
Every player has to select 5 main numbers from 1 to 50 plus 2 Lucky Star numbers from 1 to 9. During the lottery draw, five main and two lucky-star numbers are then chosen at random from two lotto draw machines containing numbered lotto balls.
European Lottery Prizes
The probability of scooping up the Euro Lotto jack-pot is a distant 1 : 76 million but the odds of acquiring a cash prize is a somewhat decent 1 : twenty-four. When the jackpot is not won in a given lottery draw, it is brought forward to the next week that will result in an ever increasing jack-pot value. New regulations added on the 9th of February 2007 set the number of consecutive rollovers to 11, with the “jackpot” rolled down to smaller prize levels in the eleventh draw when the prize is not collected.
The new rules likewise initiated European “Super Draw” which go on twice each year plus they offer jackpots in the region of 100 million pounds. The difference with Super-Draws is that the jackpot must be won during the week of the lottery draw; as a result, when there is no ticket matching, all the drawn numbers then the top prize will then be distributed to the lotto ticket holder(s) in the succeeding winning prize level.

4th of July in the Inland Empire
July 7, 2008, 5:14 pmOne of the few bright entertainment spots for the Inland Empire comes in the form of the 4th of July fireworks options. The downside, of course, is that this only happens once a year but I digress. There are several great places to see a pretty darn good firework show around this area. These places are fairly cheap and easy to find. They can also be seen from several points around the inland empire.
One of the best around is the Redlands 4th of July fireworks show. It’s held at the University of Redlands stadium and features some of the very best fireworks and a great pre-game show leading up to the fireworks. This usually consists of jets flying across the field and people parachuting down into the stadium. A very entertaining show and well worth the $5 or so admission price. Another great place to see fireworks is to watch them go off on top of Mt. Rubidoux near Riverside. The best thing to do is part down at the base of this glorified hill and watch them from the field. Be sure to bring blankets and food.
Other great places to go include Grand Terrace, Highland, and in you know someone that lives nearby, the Redlands Country club has a pretty great fireworks display. Not to mention the show in Yucaipa which is also no slouch. It would be great if a local web design company like this designed and developed a website that provided more information about each of these venues and what to expect out of your 4th of July plans each year.
